We started at 9:00 am from college and reached Hanumanthapuram Panchayat (Santhakuppam, Thasrikuppam, Dharkas, and Mattupalayam) at 11:00 am. We spoke to the village people and we came to know about their educational and technological development which needed to be developed further. Having interacted with them we have understood their exposure to world, this have created thought to help them.
That evening, we conducted an awareness program about the basic needs for their development.
Later, we went to Arulmeku Ahora Veerapatherer temple near Hanumantapuram where we found the environment of temple being not maintained properly and pond being covered with wastes and algae over the steps.
Then we decided to clean the place. Hence, we divided ourselves into groups with a leader for each group and planned for the next day’s activities to be done.
Later at 10 am, our ILABARATHAM team from Sri Sairam Institute of Technology was present to create awareness on education named “Reaching the Unreached”, and we also were there to create awareness among the school students of Hanumantapuram Govt Secondary School with the them.
As a part of “Reaching the Unreached”, we conducted competitions on English and Mathematics and distributed prizes to the winners.
Later, we discussed the importance of school education and also persuaded them to take up higher education.
Later by 4.00 am, we distributed pamphlets on the “SANKARA EYE CAMP” and “SIDDHA CAMP” conducted by Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College to be conducted the next day. Each team went to different places around Hanumantapuram, Dasirikuppam and nearby villages.
While distributing the pamphlets, we interacted with villagers about the medical facilities they were exposed to and also came to know about the significance that they gave towards medication and also we educated them the importance of medication.
By 7.00 p.m., we joined together after the day’s long activities. Then, each group shared their experience with villagers; also everyone shared how the response was from the people about the activities. These activities gave us chances to understand the lifestyle, exposure and the mentality of the villagers. Also, we learnt how to work as teams and importance of team spirit and leadership
By Evening, we joined together and had a meeting to discuss about the medical camps and also the negative and positive feedbacks and the other suggestions given by the people
By 10 am, Dr Meenakshi Sudhakar from the Kurinji Nagar Manavalakkazhagam was present to explain the importance of joy and laughter in a human being’s life. Also she explained the significance of a CLEAN TEETH and how teeth could affect one’s face and their expressions.
This helped to gain knowledge about teeth’s importance.
By 3 pm, Dr.K. Maran, The Director of Sri Sairam Management Studies explained about the status of the Indian Economy, how to rejuvenate it and the role of the youth towards building India’s future economic development. Also he added about the significance of NSS camps, how students should work in teams and also the importance young blood in politics.
Mr. Sockalingam from Kurinji Nagar Manavalakkazhagam gave a speech about development in the leadership qualities among the young blood. He added that how young blood in politics came make a difference, the need for youngsters in politics, also how youngsters prepare themselves to work selflessly for the welfare of the society.
After hearing his speech, we have also implanted some interest in ourselves towards social service and leading from the front.
By evening 4 pm, Mr.Prakash from the Vivekananda Youth Empowerment was present and he replenished the thought of patriotism that was dormant in us, he spoke to us about life of Swami Vivekananda and his thoughts about an India which is self reliant on all grounds. Also he explained what swamiji’s vision was and how swamiji wanted the youth to be.
Prakash also added about the great freedom fighters and leaders like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi and our recent scientist, leader and the former president of India Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
His thought provoking speech imparted the patriotism for our Nation in us.
The last day of the camp, there was a big ceremony to help the people there. We made a Diaz there as we have to finish the camp with the people there. We ordered the spectacles and the tri-cycle that we had taken name for. Stitching machines were also ordered by us for the unemployed yet creative women there.
The ceremony started around evening by 3p.m.
MJF. Lion Leo Muthu, CEO of Sairam Group of Institutions along with Mr.K.Palanikumar, Principal of Sri Sairam Institute of Technology and The Chief guest Prof.S.PaulRaja, the NSS coordinator from Anna University some other dignitaries had come by for the ceremony.
After addressing the gathering we distributed the spectacles that we ordered to 18 people and then it was so good to see the two persons in the tri-cycle to thank us happily. Stitching machines were prized for 1 woman there along with the prizes for the children who won in the game events the previous day.
The final day of our camp ended in happiness and we appreciated each other for the works we did during the camp with good team co- ordination
